The siren song of tall trees

To spend the day under the blankets of the deep
six feet below the blue
undulating and waiting
for your siren sibilance to raise me from this bed
of so many small stones.

Welcome the salty drops
in the corners of my eyes,
the newness of my legs,
and wonder at my salient strength.

I know nothing
Of hurricanes and or two drops of rain on paper
Until you tell me the story of a squall
And calling
the ocean has it’s own way of ebb and emotion.

Numbed sensation is a mood
Soaking in unfailing love
In conversation with breath and death.

Ask me to climb the tall tree,
Asway with the wind
Wrap my legs around
Adding myself to her rings,
Another courageous layer.
